Reality of Democracy and Reality Shows on TV

Freedom given to improper person invites problem just like if mad men dumped in Ranchi Mental hospitals are freed and left unbridled. Freedom given to terrorists and criminals are creating problems for not only for India but for the entire world.

In our country where 90% of voters are illiterate, uneducated and too much innocent to understand the intricacy of politicians it is foolishness to seek their votes under the banner of democracy to select and elect between good and the bad.

Similarly we have seen on Realty shows where good singers are thrown out by the system of voters only because those who do not understand the ins and outs of music are sending SMS's to choose best singers. Judges in such realty shows sheds crocodile tears when good singers are rejected by votes.

In the same way politicians in democratic set up prevailing in our country shed crocodile tears when voters raises demand for the development of the area and earn sympathy votes or anti -incumbency votes.

Obviously we have made mockery of votes and in turn that of democracy in the name of freedom. There must be controlled democracy and the regulated freedom should be given to only those educated persons who have adequate skills and know to elect the leaders suitably.

We should learn lesson by what is happening in all the realty shows running on TV channels and we should learn by the results of hundreds of election taken place in our country during last 60 years in several state assemblies and the Parliament where money play the bigger role and not at all the merit of the candidate.

In brief, we can say that as long as merit is not given its due respect and honour, one cannot hope and even imagine for good results in democratic system of governance. It is worthwhile to mention here that there are still some schools, colleges, societies and Corporates (business enterprises) who have been working under democratic set up and who strictly adhere to discipline in their campuses and who have been consistently rising by leaps and bounds. DAV schools, IIM;s, IITs, Navratna Corporates are a few illustrations to substantiate this line of thinking.

Democracy in Indian context has to be redefined to make it more effective ad fruitful.
